One of the most popular mobile apps today, it’s hard to decide which one is more favoured by users – Instagram or Snapchat. With both these platforms battling it out for supremacy, Instagram caught the surprise of its users by revealing the launch of a new feature called Instagram Stories which got its very first update earlier this week. Its features however will be all-too-familiar to Snapchat users. The update added a new feature which is the one-handed zoom on a video when recording it. It also comes with the option to switch between the front and rear cameras when recording. All the same, these features bear striking similarities to Snapchat.
While recording any video for Instagram Stories, users have the option of zooming on it by dragging the finger up the shutter button. The zooming out option can simply be done by dragging down, which is exactly how Snapchat works as well following the update in May. The Instagram Stories update added another option of being able to switch from the rear and front cameras mid-recording by just tapping on the screen.
Owing to the blatant similarities between these two apps, users were quick to point out that Instagram was copying Snapchat once again. The update also comes as the newest move in what we see as a fierce battle between both companies.
